  • January 18th, 2010 - HERE FOR PURCHASE!

After two grueling years of whipping Alex and drinking martinis while whipping Alex, The Sword and the Fish comic is COMPLETE. It is a double issue, so it's 40 pages, and it's black & white, so you know it's hardcore. It is called "Oops" and I want YOU to read it. We're charging $8 for it and currently have 75 issues for sale. Correct that - I sold 9 this weekend (despite being in Montreal all weekend, go figure) - so we only have 66 left. Get yours before I eat it for it's nutritional value!

Please put in a REQUEST via private email citing your ADDRESS, including postal code and whatnot. I will send you your issue in the mail. You will have to first send me the appropriate fee via money order and online banking. It's really easy, just ask me if you don't know how. Please note that I won't send the comic until the money order comes through because I don't trust the lot of you. I will figure out shipping prices on a case-by-case basis. If you don't personally know me and would like a copy of the issue, hold tight. We are in the works of setting up other various websites to host it. You can always follow the method above, but another source online may quickly prove superior.

Thank you very much for supporting The Bogus Machinima Church of Norway, my fictitious (?) company that makes The Sword and the Fish comics. I am happy to deliver unto you a piece of work I am very proud of. I think anyone can enjoy it! I have gotten solid reviews from girls who neither read comics nor play video games, so I think that's a major plus.

Enjoy, and be sure to check out Alex Row's work.

    More updates soon...

January 7th, 2010 - The Second Arrival, Which in the End is Much Bigger Than the First Arrival, if Slightly Less Exciting

I finally got the comic character bios section up, so be sure to check out just who Clifford, Edge, Sasha and Zaknafien are. Comic identities are far different than video game identities, after all. More papery. I also finally got the 3 demo pages up and running. The page looks hideous, but on Dreamweaver it looks perfect, so I'm at a loss. The important thing is the first three pages of "Oops" are readily viewable and just a click away.

A third finally: 75 improved 'first draft' issues of "Oops" have been shipped and will soon be available for $8. We're also hoping to sell them online by way of Indy Planet - though I worry how an amazing yet black & white comic will sell. Either way, sell your kids to buy a copy (if you have to).

    Otherwise, don't.

    Delicious!

    December 20th, 2009 - The Arrival

16 comics arrived a few days ago, looking awesome. They are mostly black, comic-sized, and 40 pages of sheer love. 8 immediately went to my artist, while I still hold the other 8. Despite many attempts by friends to purchase these early issues, I am holding them for more business-related sales. We have ordered a full 75 more to start, and plan to sell them for $8 an issue, though they will be cheaper when they hit the open market.

To account for this incease in 'product,' I am sprucing up this website. My system for displaying demo pages from the comic has not worked, but now I believe I have a better way to demonstrate them. Expect an update soon reporting ways to purchase an issue of the comic online - either by mail submission or Paypal, hopefully.

The comic really looks wonderful. Every person on the Earth should check it out.

    November 30th, 2009 - Comics Inbound

So it's been most of half a year since I last posted, but honestly, I spent every single second of that time either working on the comic or thinking about the comic. Possibly sleeping too. Regardless, the big day is almost here. I sent the comic pages, all spruced up 'n' fancy, out to Ka-Blam Publishing. They sent them out over a week ago, completed, but they have not yet arrived, possibly due to American Thanksgiving. When they do, O, what a glorious day.

I have plans for the site. I want to change over to WordPress because I have since become stronger with it than Dreamweaver. The site also needs to focus more on how cool the comic is. Because it's cool. It's the comic equivalent of The Big Bang. The Sword and the Fish will create worlds! The comic will be priced at $5 once I get everyone up and running. That boils down to a sweet 12 cents a page. Here's my two cents, (six of which, obviously, could make a page of sense): you should buy the comic as soon as possible. Not for me. Not for yourself. But for the children.

(Damn children. Always getting stuff done for them...)

    July 30th, 2009 - Event 40

When a legend becomes so engrossing it engrosses you out, that is when it is time to roll up your sleeves, chain up the cat, and work real hard. The Sword and the Fish is right at this exact moment and due dilligence is being served - if not in update form, then at least in comic form.

All 40 pages are complete, fully drawn. Only a few minor touchups remain before the cover is begun. I have been hard at work providing dialogue to the scenes, an easy task this late in the issue, because it's mostly brawling. Yes, I just gave away the ending, without saying "spoilers," but what sort of self-respecting double-issue comic pilot doesn't have an epic beat down at its conclusion? Only one or two, and they are likely Jane Austin comics or something, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies notwithstanding. Regardless, things are getting hot. So hot you could cast Inferno on them and you'd be cooling them. I once tried to touch my own work and scalded my fingertips to the point that they became claws. Wicked useful that. I drink pop by clenching the cans and letting it drip into my mouth now. Pretty slick. Zaknafien could do that, maybe. Remember: this site has lots of cool stuff to help you bide your time. For instance, check out the full slew of mp3s here.

    June 17th, 2009 - Gwar + Apocalypso: Spored

When things get going, they get going quick, and not unlike a mountain goat caught in a giant cartoon snowball of snow, stuff just keeps getting added to the ball. You heard me. Here are two coolio pictures of how Gwar and Apocalypso would look in the Spore universe, as created by me. I think they turned out well. Archibald, on the other hand, didn't turn out so well so he is not shown. I built the Led Dirgible too, but for some reason you can't take high res pics of the vehicles.

Alex Row recently reported to having completed 3 new pages in the last few days so the trek to 40 continues! We are at about 34. Meanwhile, I used my Illustrator skills to merge some shit and have finally lettered pages 1, 2, and 3, long overdue. Scumdrop's legacy is now properly told. Things are moving again! It's ALIIIIVE!

The Mighty Apocalypso, in all his unglory.

Gwar roars in anger! Sheep explode!
